Wappen und Flagge

Wappen von NeuseelandDas Wappen von Neuseeland stammt von 1911. Das Schild wird von einer weißgekleideten Frau als Symbol für die Einwanderer und einem Maori-Krieger, der die Ureinwohner symbolisiert, gehalten. Beide stehen auf zwei Farnblättern.
Im Wappenschild repräsentieren die Sterne das Land; Weizen steht für die Landwirtschaft, Schiffe für Handel und Seefahrt, das Schaffell für die Viehzucht, Hammer und Schlegel für die Industrie. Seit 1956 wird das Wappen von der britischen Krone verziert.

Die neuseeländische Flagge zeigt im oberen linken Viertel den „Union Jack“ und in der rechten Hälfte das Kreuz des Südens, vier Sterne in rautenförmiger Anordnung auf blauem Grund.
